Octavi Arrizabalaga aka Aryz was born in 1988 in Palo Alto (California); at a early age his parents moved to Cardedeu (Spain), where he currently lives and works. Like many artists of his generation, Arrizabalaga started painting graffiti in the surroundings of Barcelona at the early 2000’s where he began to be known as Aryz. Around 2007 he started painting with telescopic sticks and house-paint on different surfaces from abandoned factories in the outskirts of Barcelona. Japan, France, United Kingdom, Finland, Denmark, Poland, China, Madagascar, United States are some of the countries where he has left his trace during the last decade. More recently, he has begun to work more within the studio, limiting the number of murals that he performs annually. The studio allows him to calmly cook-up concepts that the immediacy of the wall doesn’t. Talking about himself makes him feel uncomfortable and this is surely one of the reasons why he prefers that his work speak for him.
